UVM Bookstore Covid 19 FAQ

Are you still open?

The Bookstore's operations at the Davis Center (main store, TechStore, Henderson’s Café, and Cat Pause) will be closed until at least June 15th. We are still processing and shipping web orders on weekdays and are now able to offer curbside pickup for web orders outside of the Davis Center. Our store on the Church Street Marketplace will be open beginning Wednesday, June 3rd five days a week (Wednesday-Sunday) from 10 am to 6 pm.

When will summer session course materials be available?

Course materials for summer session classes will be available to purchase online beginning May 1st. As we continue to receive requisitions from professors and inventory from publishers, more titles will be available for purchase. Orders can either be shipped to you or we can arrange a curbside pickup outside the Davis Center on weekdays from 8 am to 3 pm.

Do you have supplies to help me telecommute?

Yes, the TechStore has an assortment of laptops, microphones, and headphones, as well as adapters, cables, and peripherals to help you work remotely. Please contact the TechStore at 802.656.3067 or tech.store@uvm.edu for assistance.

Can I purchase regalia?

Academic regalia for bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees will be available to purchase through the UVM Bookstore website until May 31st.

Note: when ordering your regalia, please enter an event date two weeks out from when you place the order as delivery times are around 2 weeks based on the number of orders the company is fulfilling nationally. Orders must be placed by May 31, 2020. Once a new ceremony date is established for the Class of 2020 Commencement, information regarding ordering regalia will be updated.

Students may purchase either complete sets of regalia for all degrees or individual parts of the complete regalia set (tassel, mortarboard, tam, stole, or hood). Caps and gowns are made of Oak Hall’s GreenWeaver material, a lightweight polyester-like material made from 23 post-consumer recycled plastic bottles.

What should I do with my Spring Semester rental textbooks?

The Bookstore has worked with Nebraska Book Company (Neebo), our rental processor, to extend the return deadline to May 31st. Please watch for an email from them with information about returning your rental books. If you find yourself unable to return your rental books by the new deadline, please reach out to Nebraska Book Company at nebraskamanagedrentals@nebook.com to discuss your options.

If you’re in the Burlington area: return your rental books to campus during our dedicated drop off hours of 10 am to 2 pm weekdays through June 19th. Simply walk or drive up to the patio outside the Bookstore and we’ll take your rental books. You can also return books in our After Hours Drop Box, located by the entrance to the Davis Center.

If you are no longer in the area: you can either return your rental books directly to Nebraska Book Company or opt to buy out your rental books.

To return rental books to Nebraska, please print out the email you received from Nebraska Book Company, as it will serve as your packing slip. Choose your preferred carrier or shipping method, making sure the package is postmarked no later than May 31st. Rental books should be sent to:

Pro Tip: USPS Media Mail is a cost effective way to send back your rental books. Tracking and insurance are highly recommended as you are responsible for your package until Nebraska Book Company receives it.

To buy out your rental books with a credit or debit card, call 855.558.2759. Buyout costs will be listed in the email you received from Nebraska Book Company. Once you buy out your rental books, you are free to keep them for future use or sell them through our online buyback program. https://uvmbookstore.uvm.edu/sell_main.asp?

Pro Tip: Buying your rental(s) out may be cheaper than your shipping costs, so keep that in mind when weighing your options.

Can I still sell my textbooks?

Yes! We have an online Sell Your Textbooks service up and running now. You can enter in all your books, get an online quote and a shipping label to send in your books right here! Before attempting to sell your textbooks, please double check to make sure they were not rented through the Bookstore or another rental program.

What should I do with my MicroFridge rental?

If you rented a MicroFridge for the 2019-2020 academic year and do not plan to return to campus, please email uvmstore@uvm.edu with your name and dorm name and room number to notify us that you no longer need your MicroFridge. We will arrange pick up with Residential Life. Additional information will be sent to all rental customers later in the semester with updated information for cleaning out and returning your rental.
