Submit your order securely via our website. Orders can be shipped to you, delivered to an on-campus residence hall, or held at the Bookstore for pick up. Please allow 24-48 hours for us to process your order.

Shipping Policies

The UVM Bookstore is proud to offer you competitive shipping rates. Depending on package weight and destination, we ship with USPS 1st Class and Priority Mail, FedEx Express and Ground, and UPS Express and Ground. All of our shipments are professionally packed to ensure the safety of your items in route. Please note, we cannot guarantee delivery with a specific carrier.

On average, your order will be received in 5-7 working days. During August, December, and January, delivery time may take longer. The Bookstore is not responsible for delays caused by seasonal weather events and other disruptions.

2 Day Delivery: Orders placed Monday – Friday before 2 pm EST. will be delivered in 2 business days. Orders placed after 2 pm EST will be delivered in 3 business days. Please note: Saturday and Sunday are NOT considered shipping business days. Orders placed anytime on Saturday or Sunday will be delivered on Wednesday. Two Day delivery is NOT available for PO boxes. Please use a valid street address to ensure 2 day delivery.

The shipping charge for textbooks is a flat rate of $9.99 . The shipping charge for a diploma frame is a flat rate of $24.99. The rate for Standard chairs and rockers is $49.99 for shipments east of the Mississippi and $59.99 west of the Mississippi. Please add $1.00 per container of maple syrup for double-boxing. For multiple containers of maple syrup, we will email you with a specific shipping quote.

International shipping is available to most locations. Once your order has been placed, we will contact you via email with a specific shipping quote. All duties, import and brokerage fees, and VAT are the responsibility of the customer/recipient and will be due upon delivery. Customs, duties, and taxes can vary widely, so please check with your local customs agency for more details before you place an order.

Returns - Non textbooks

Clothing, gift items, and supplies must be returned within 30 business days of purchase. Please note, returns will not be accepted on clothing that is not in its original, unwashed and unworn condition. Gift and supply items need to be in their original packaging and in resalable condition. Medical books and medical supplies must be returned within 3 business days of purchase.

If you need to return or exchange merchandise purchased online or at one of our retail locations, please use the Return/Exchange form included with your order, download a copy, or call us directly at 802.656.1448 for assistance. Be sure to include your web order number or in-store transaction number on the return form, along with your contact information and any necessary payment information. Returning merchandise to us is your responsibility, but any merchandise sent back to you as part of an exchange will be sent for free.

Returns - Textbooks

NO RETURNS ON TEXTBOOKS WITHOUT A RECEIPT.

IN STORE PURCHASE: During the fall and spring semesters, students have a 7-business day refund window for textbooks starting on the date of purchase up until the end of add/drop. During summer classes, students have a 3-business day refund window starting on the date of purchase.

BUYING ONLINE: During the fall and spring semesters, students have a 7-business day refund window for textbooks starting on the date of order pick up until the end of add/drop. During summer classes, students have a 3-business day refund window starting on the date of order pick up.

TEXTBOOK REFUNDS MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING CRITERIA: 

  • New Books must be in new condition, unmarked with no signs of use.
  • Shrink wrapped packages must still be sealed with intact web codes including all parts.
  • Used books must not include any additional highlighting, writing, drawings etc.
NON-REFUNDABLE/ NOT ELIGIBLE FOR RETURN:
  • Course packets are not refundable.
  • Access codes are non-returnable.
  • Digital books are non-returnable if more than 10% of content has been viewed or if anything from the e-book has been printed.

Unclaimed Merchandise

The UVM Bookstore will hold your online purchases for up to 60 days. Any textbook(s) or other item(s) of merchandise shall be deemed abandoned if not claimed by the purchaser within 60 days of the date of purchase. The UVM Bookstore, at its sole discretion, may sell or otherwise dispose of the abandoned item(s) in the manner it deems most appropriate. The purchaser may file a claim for an in-store merchandise credit in the amount of the purchase price, less any applicable sales tax, for a period of up to 1 year from date of purchase.

Mail Order Return Instructions

Include the packing slip and receipt (receipt can be reprinted on the order history page) with your return. Repackage your item(s) in the original packaging or in an appropriate cardboard box. Using packing material (e.g. Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, etc) around your item(s), pack and tape your package securely. Select a carrier that offers you the option to insure and track your package. UPS, FedEx, and USPS all offer this option. Insuring and tracking your package protects you as the shipper and helps ensure your shipment goes to the correct destination in the same condition it was as when you sent it. Write down your tracking number and keep it until The UVM Bookstore has refunded your money. Ship your return to the following address:

Arrange for a carrier to pick up your package or drop it off with the carrier. Shipping is the responsibility of the customer and is not refundable, unless due to our error. No credit is given for lost or damaged packages in route to The UVM Bookstore. Please insure and track your package. Returns to The UVM Bookstore will be refunded to the original credit card or account used for payment unless a different payment option was selected. A refund will be posted to your credit card or account once your return is received and processed. Processing times for returns vary, and may take up to 30 days from the day the return is received for a credit to be transmitted to your credit card or account. It normally takes 2-10 business days for financial institutions to process the transmitted credit request.
