Call us, toll-free, at 1-800-331-7305, during business hours and our friendly staff will assist you in placing your order over the phone. Use our site as your own personal catalog! Be advised that during August and January we are extremely busy fulfilling online web orders and may not be available for telephone orders.

Shipping Policies

The UVM Bookstore is proud to offer you competitive shipping rates. All of our shipments are professionally packed to ensure the safety of your items in route.

On average, your order will be received in 7 - 10 working days. During August and January, delivery time may take longer. 

The shipping charges for textbooks is a flat rate of $11.99 . The shipping charges for diploma frames are $21.99 due to the oversized box. The rate for chairs and rockers is $40.00 for shipments east of the Mississippi and $50.00 west. Please add $1.00 for double-boxing on maple syrup. For multiple containers of maple syrup, please call (800-331-7305) for the shipping charges.

International shipping is available to most locations. Once your order has been placed, we will contact you via email with a specific shipping quote. All customs charges and duties are the responsibility of the customer/recipient.

Returns - Non textbooks

Clothing, gift items, and supplies must be returned within 30 business days of purchase. Please note, returns will not be accepted on clothing that is not in its original, unwashed and unworn condition. Gift and supply items need to be in their original packaging and in resalable condition. Medical books and medical supplies must be returned within 3 business days of purchase.

If you need to return or exchange merchandise purchased online or at one of our retail locations, please use the Return/Exchange form included with your order, download a copy, or call us directly at 802.656.1448 for assistance. Be sure to include your web order number or in-store transaction number on the return form, along with your contact information and any necessary payment information. A return shipping charge of $5.99, plus any applicable taxes, will be charged to your credit card for merchandise sent back to you.

Returns - Textbooks

No returns without a receipt

During  fall and spring semesters you have 7 business days from date of purchase up until the end of drop/add. Those dates are posted in the store and on your receipt.  For summer classes, you have 2 business day from the date of purchase. All items must be returned in the original condition. 

  • New Books must be in new condition, unmarked with no signs of use.
  • Shrink wrapped packages must still be sealed with intact web codes including all parts.
  • Used books must not include any additional highlighting, writing, drawings etc.
  • Course packets are not refundable.
  • Receipt/or packing list must accompany each return.

Unclaimed Merchandise

The UVM Bookstore will hold your online purchases for up to 60 days. Any textbook(s) or other item(s) of merchandise shall be deemed abandoned if not claimed by the purchaser within 60 days of the date of purchase. The UVM Bookstore, at its sole discretion, may sell or otherwise dispose of the abandoned item(s) in the manner it deems most appropriate. The purchaser may file a claim for an in-store merchandise credit in the amount of the purchase price, less any applicable sales tax, for a period of up to 1 year from date of purchase.

Mail Order Return Instructions

Include the packing slip and receipt (receipt can be reprinted on the order history page) with your return. Repackage your item(s) in the original packaging or in an appropriate cardboard box. Using packing material (e.g. Styrofoam peanuts, bubble wrap, etc) around your item(s), pack and tape your package securely. Select a carrier that offers you the option to insure and track your package. UPS, FedEx, and USPS all offer this option. Insuring and tracking your package protects you as the shipper and helps ensure your shipment goes to the correct destination in the same condition it was as when you sent it. Write down your tracking number and keep it until The UVM Bookstore has refunded your money. Ship your return to the following address:

Arrange for a carrier to pick up your package or drop it off with the carrier. Shipping is the responsibility of the customer and is not refundable, unless due to our error. No credit is given for lost or damaged packages in route to The UVM Bookstore. Please insure and track your package. Returns to The UVM Bookstore will be refunded to the original credit card or account used for payment unless a different payment option was selected. A refund will be posted to your credit card or account once your return is received and processed. Processing times for returns vary, and may take up to 30 days from the day the return is received for a credit to be transmitted to your credit card or account. It normally takes 2-10 business days for financial institutions to process the transmitted credit request.
